Rape Declaration Forum radio program.
RDF was concieved by the late visionary Artist Donald Vance. Don Vance noticed when working with models that an enourmous amount of them had gone through some form of sexual abuse and rape. He felt their was a silent epidemic and he could not understand why the Survivors were basically revictimized by the system.  They were left traumatized and shamed. Don suggested and urged his girlfriend WBAI News Reporter Rebecca Myles to do a show on this topic. Thirteen years ago mainstream media would rarely give Survivors a safe platform to speak out.
Rape Declaration Forum aired March 2006 on the legendary radio station WBAI 99.5 FM.     Don and Rebecca searched for Survivors that would be willing to share their story live on air. Unfortunately it became pretty challenging getting someone to share there story,
This is when Co-host Jay Grayce becomes part of RDF.
Jay Grayce a friend of Don's who is a rape survivor and Crisis Counselor apprehensively decided to do the program. She was struggling with anxiety, depression and PTSD.
The radio program gave her a virtual safe space to tell her story and her struggles with compassion and respect.  This was life changing for her!  It allowed her to truly begin her transition from victim to Survivor and her journey to a thriver of life.
Rebecca Myles, Don Vance and Jay Grayce after sharing and listening to a stream of other victims calling in and sharing their horid stories of abuse. They all knew this program was desperately needed. With NYC's 99.5 Fm WBAI's commitment for innovatve and break through programing.  RDF became a regular on the station. Rebecca Myles encouraged Jay- Grayce who became an author and Activist for Survivors Rights to join her to  co-Host and Co Produce RDF along with her.  Jay Grayce knew RDF was groundbreaking and was excited and honored to be part of it. RDF was one of the first radio programs in the country to produce a show for Survivors. These two women continue to work fiercely to ensure that Don Vance's vision for Survivors of Rape and Domestic Abuse have a virtual safe space to tell their stories, struggles and their triumphs!
